8, S8, 16 mm...
- Desde muy jóvenes, Javier Rebollo y Juan Ortuoste comienzan a interesarse por el mundo del cine y a rodar modestos cortometrajes en 8 ó s8 mm.
- Al tiempo que realizan sus estudios en la E.S. de Ingenieros Industriales de Bilbao, fundan, junto con otros jóvenes aficionados, el Cine Club Universitario de Bilbao, que llegaría a ser durante largos años el más importante Cine Club del País Vasco.
- Dentro de él promueven en 1.970 el C.C.U. Grupo de Producción. Realizan en él varios cortometrajes en 16mm. Como curiosidad: aprovechando dos rollos de negativo comprados para pruebas de una cámara, dan las primeras vueltas de manivela en 35 mm. y elaboran dos minifilms de 3 min de duración.
- En 1.972 diseñan y organizan el Departamento de Medios Audiovisuales de la E.S.I.I. de Bilbao, y ruedan varios cortometrajes didácticos.
- Todos los films de esta primera época fueron realizados con muy precarios medios, pudiendo encuadrarse muchos de ellos en el más puro underground.
Since very young, Javier Rebollo and Juan Ortuoste begin to be interested for the world of the movies and to shoot modest shortfilms in 8 ó s8 mm.
While they study in the Upper School of Industrial Engineers of Bilbao, they found, together with other young amateurs, the University Movies Club of Bilbao, that would become during long years the most important Movies Club of the Basque Country.
